SANIBEL — Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts has added a new executive position, human resources director, and also promoted a longtime employee to finance director.
Laurie Rutherford has been named human resources director. Rutherford has almost 25 years of experience in human resources within the hospitality industry, according to a release. Most recently, she served 14 years as vice president and human resources director at staySky Hotels, Resort & Vacation Clubs. At Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, her responsibilities include payroll, benefits, recruitment, workplace compliance, employee relations, performance and talent management, training and development and other related areas.
"We're thrilled to have someone of Laurie's skill set join our fast-growing organization," Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts CEO Doug Babcock says in the release. "This is essentially a new position we've created, due to our growth, and Laurie has the opportunity to help us create new programs, acquire talent, excel our training and achieve greater guest satisfaction that will benefit all — employees, guests and the corporation."
In addition, Aleksandra Smolnicka-Dos Santos has been named director of finance. Smolnicka-Dos Santos, who goes by Ola, has been with the company 16 years, serving in a variety of areas from guest relations to finance to human resources. "Ola has performed exceptionally during her years with Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts," says Michele Berger, General Manager for 'Tween Waters and West Wind Inn, in the statement. "We look forward to her continued growth and the expertise she brings to our success."
Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts operates beach resorts on Sanibel and Captiva Islands that comprise more than 400 accommodations. Properties include 'Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa; West Wind Inn; Beachview Cottages; and Castaways Cottages. In addition, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts manages and markets two marinas, numerous recreational amenities (discounted golf, tennis, water sports and more), retail outlets and a day spa.
