FORT MYERS — Lee Health, one of the largest public health care organizations in Florida, named Lisa Martinez vice president of strategy and innovation — a new position.

Martinez will lead the health system’s strategic planning process, which includes analyzing industry trends and business models; developing strategies to improve patient experience while reducing total cost of care; and defining business models and payer strategies that align human, financial and technology resources, according to a statement.

“We are pleased to welcome Lisa to the Lee Health team,” Lee Health COO Dr. Scott Nygaard says in the statement. “Her impressive track record of strategic leadership for a national organization and understanding of the complexity of today’s health care landscape will prove invaluable to our future growth and helping our health system adjust to difficulties created by the coronavirus pandemic.”

Martinez spent 20 years at AARP, the release states, most recently as vice president of business optimization. While at AARP she managed a portfolio of more than 15 health care products designed for senior citizens nationwide.
