Construction firm names director of people and culture

Michael Philpott has more than a decade of senior human resources leadership.

ESTERO — Michael Philpott has been hired as director of people and culture for the south region of Suffolk, one of the largest builders and construction firms in the country.

Philpott has more than a decade of senior human resources leadership with success managing teams in global locations, including for a Fortune 200 company with annual revenue of $14 billion and 50,000 employees, according to a press release. He will based out the firm's Southwest Florida office in Estero. 

He has experience in human resources operations and strategic human capital management, including talent management, talent acquisition, change management, organizational design, and diversity and inclusion. Philpott has worked on large-scale projects, including self-perform and construction management in the U.S. and internationally.

“We are excited to have someone with Michael’s background and leadership joining our team,” says Josh Christensen, general manager of Suffolk’s Florida Gulf Coast region, in the statement. “His strategic approach to human resources will benefit our efforts in talent acquisition and employee engagement, and we are always honored to welcome a member of our country’s military to our Suffolk family.”

Philpott, a fourth-generation service member, is a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School and served as an infantry captain during multiple deployments overseas. 

In his new role, Philpott will work with Suffolk’s operational and functional team to provide human capital strategies that support regional growth plans and professional development.

Suffolk is privately held and is led by Founder, Chairman and CEO John Fish.
