NAPLES —NaplesNext, a conference and ideas festival with more than 30 speakers on a wide variety of global topics, is coming back to Southwest Florida  in early March.

The event, from Chicago-based media, marketing and event firm Intersport, is similar to and inspired by Ted Talks and the Aspen Ideas Festival. The debut NaplesNext was held in March 2019. The second conference is scheduled for March 2-3 at the Naples Grande Beach Resort, according to the NaplesNext website.

Speakers for the 2020 NaplesNext include retired four-star Marine General and Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly; The Carlyle Group Founder and Co-Executive Chairman David Rubenstein; National Geographic Editor-in-Chief Susan Goldberg; and entrepreneur Sarah Kauss founder of S’well, which makes and sells a vacuum-sealed stainless steel water bottle. The New York company did around $100 million a year in sales in 2016, the last year it disclosed revenue data, and has sold 25 million products over the past decade.

Topics on the NaplesNext agenda include women’s leadership, health care innovation and values-based leadership.

Kauss, a native of Jupiter, spoke to the Business Observer Feb. 27 about her company and its mission – to rid the world of single-use plastics. She will talk about that mission at NaplesNext, in the values-based leadership session.

“I’m going to be representing small businesses and proving the power of individuals consumers to create change and movement for good,” Kauss tells the Business Observer. "I will talk about how important it is to have purpose, and how easy it is for someone to have significant impact on sustainability.”
