FORT MYERS — United Airlines announced plans to add seven nonstop destinations later this year to the schedule at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.

The airline, according to a statement, will start nonstop daily service to Boston, Cleveland and New York-LaGuardia Nov. 6. On Dec. 17 it will add daily nonstop flights between the airport, under the call letters RSW and Columbus, Ohio Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh.

“We are extremely pleased United Airlines is adding flights from popular cities in the Midwest and Northeast to bring travelers to Southwest Florida to experience our beaches and relaxing atmosphere,” Lee County Port Authority Acting Executive Director Ben Siegel says in the release. “RSW appreciates United’s commitment to customer feedback and is proud to be part of their large expansion plans for additional routes this winter season.”

The new flights, according to a separate statement from United, are part of a larger expansion in nonstop service to Florida, and includes additional nonstop flights to the Midwest and Northeast from Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
