BONITA SPRINGS — A 30-year veteran of the construction industry has been named director of business development for a Bonita Springs-based commercial construction company.

Before being hired to work at Heatherwood Construction Co., David Ellis was director of business development for CORE Construction in Sarasota, according to a news release. Ellis also served six years as executive vice president of the Collier Building Industry Association before relocating to the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association in 2005.

Ellis was named Executive Officer of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders in 2003, the release adds. Ellis has led efforts to address affordable housing and homelessness in the communities in which he has served.

“It’s great to be back in Southwest Florida, working with Walter Crawford and the great team at Heatherwood Construction,” Ellis says in the release.

Heatherwood Construction Co. is a commercial general contractor that has been serving Southwest Florida since 1980, with clients from Bradenton to Marco Island. Heatherwood provides services including site search and selection, feasibility analysis, site development, value engineering, vertical construction and LEED certification.
