Airport passenger traffic increases 7.4%

The traffic leader in June was Delta Air Lines with 153,972 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers.

In June, 586,319 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, an increase of 7.4% compared to June 2018.

FORT MYERS — In June, 586,319 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, an increase of 7.4% compared to June 2018.

Year-to-date passenger traffic is up 9.4% compared to last year, according to a press release. 

The traffic leader in June was Delta Air Lines with 153,972 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. The other airlines in the top five were Southwest with 123,772 passengers, American with 95,304 passengers, JetBlue with 67,932 passengers and United with 53,464 passengers.

Southwest Florida International Airport had 4,804 aircraft operations, a decrease of 1% compared to June 2018. Page Field saw 8,583 operations, a 12.4% increase from June 2018.

Slightly more than 2.6 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in June.

Southwest Florida International Airport served almost 9.4 million passengers in 2018. It is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic, a statement says.
