SARASOTA — The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art has named Mark Terman its senior director of development.
Terman has more than 30 years of development experience, according to a press release. He served as executive director of principal gifts for 19 years at Michigan State University, where he worked most recently with leadership on the university’s successful $1.8 billion campaign. He was also the lead fundraiser on the Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum at MSU, which opened in 2012.
Before his time at Michigan State, he was president of the Michigan Fitness Foundation Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports.
“We are thrilled to have hired a candidate with Mark’s high level of development expertise," says The Ringling Executive Director Steven High in a statement. "We eagerly anticipate his arrival and look forward to introducing him to the Sarasota community.”
Terman will start at The Ringling on Aug. 23.
"I am excited to join The Ringling and Florida State University," says Terman in a statement. "I am looking forward to engaging with the people of Sarasota and to continue advancing the museum’s mission of inclusion, inspiration and excellence."
The Ringling’s campus in Sarasota includes the Museum of Art, the Circus Museum, a historic mansion and an 18th-century theater and bayfront gardens. It is the State Art Museum of Florida and part of Florida State University.
