TAMPA — Kevin Mekler has been named partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Tampa.

According to a press release, Mekler, a cybersecurity expert, came to the firm from Travelers, where he served as managing director and counsel in bond and specialty insurance. He managed a team of professionals responsible for fidelity, crime, cyber and kidnap and ransom losses under multiple bonds and policies.

At Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, Mekler — who served in the Air Force as a target intelligence analyst and then became a civil litigator for 10 years — will devote his practice to addressing the privacy and security needs of companies and institutions across multiple industries.

“We welcome Kevin to the firm and look forward to his leadership in helping us grow our cyber and data privacy capabilities not only in Florida, but across the firm,” states W.T. “Bill” Hogan III, the firm’s litigation team leader, in the release.
