ESTERO — Suffolk, a national building contractor with Florida offices in Miami, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Estero, has been chosen to oversee construction of Miromar Development’s University Village Phase II, which is adjacent to Florida Gulf Coast University.
The project will comprise 180,000 square feet, including four new three-story student housing residential buildings with 336 beds and one maintenance building, according to a statement.
Suffolk completed the first phase of University Village, including The Residences at University Village, community clubhouse and University Village Shops, featuring a variety of restaurants and retail, earlier this year. Phase 1 included 588 beds in 42 two-bedroom units and 126 four-bedroom units, the release adds.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Miromar Development and support their tradition of providing exceptional residential and commercial offerings in Southwest Florida,” says Suffolk Florida Gulf Coast Region COO Josh Christensen in the statement. “Suffolk is honored to be a part of the collaboration to bring this project to fruition.”
Comprising 100 acres, University Village, a mixed-use development, provides off-campus FGCU student residences, fitness, retail, convenience shops and restaurants.
