SARASOTA — Passenger traffic at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is up 35% this September compared to September 2017.

According to a press release, September was the fifth straight month of double-digit increases in passenger traffic. The airport saw a 25% increase in August; a 30% increase in July; a 23% increase in June; and a 16% increase in May.

Several airlines have recently boosted service at the airport, under the call letters SRQ. The additions and debuts include Allegiant Air, which started service in April at the airport with nonstop service to Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh; Frontier Airlines, which announced in September it will start nonstop service to Atlanta, Cleveland and Philadelphia Dec. 10; and American Airlines, which added three destinations — Dallas, Chicago and Philadelphia — starting Dec. 19. Also, Delta will provide seasonal flights to Boston, Detroit and New York.

Sarasota Bradenton International Airport recently hosted a job fair to fill 50 to 100 positions for the airport and its tenants.
