Prima Luce LLC, a twin-towered residential development in Fort Myers along the Caloosahatchee River planned by MacFarlane Barney Development, has tapped Jeff Barney to be its vice president of business development.

Barney is the husband of MacFarlane Barney Chief Operating Officer Rebekah MacFarlane Barney, the daughter of company founder Robert MacFarlane.

In his new role, Barney will help boost sales of Prima Luce’s planned 250 units — which are being priced at $200,000 to more than $1 million and are roughly 25% committed to date — and cultivate “future financial and business opportunities” for MacFarlane Barney.

The Connecticut native, who moved to Fort Myers in 2012, had been working on Sanibel Island with brokerage John Naumann & Associates.

Barney’s Prima Luce post isn’t his first with MacFarlane Barney Development, either.

Six years ago, he worked as director of marketing and sales for a company master-planned golf community, and most recently, Barney was Director of Sales for Campo Felice Independent Living, a 24-story former hotel in Fort Myers that MacFarlane Barney transformed into a 322-unit senior housing complex.
