ST. PETERSBURG — With its sixth acquisition of the year, Eye Care America has expanded its presence in the southeast by adding to its roster Updegraff Laser Vision, a St. Petersburg practice founded by Stephen Updegraff — one of the first eye doctors to perform LASIK vision correction surgery in the United States.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to a press release, the move also establishes a strategic partnership between Updegraff Laser Vision and EHA’s existing member practices in the area, including The Eye Associates of Manatee.
“We are thrilled to work with the talented team at Updegraff Laser Vision,” states Rod Roeser, CEO of Eye Health America, in the release. “Dr. Updegraff and his entire team have rightfully earned a reputation for the highest quality care experience, and we’re looking forward to helping them grow their practice and maintain their strong reputation in west Florida and beyond.”
Headquartered in Atlanta, Eye Health America, the release states, was formed earlier this year by LLR Partners, a lower middle market private equity firm.
“Our partnership with Eye Health America is a strategic part of our long-term commitment to our patients and their eye health,” states Updegraff, who continues to serve as the firm’s medical director, in the release. “As a part of the EHA network, we will ensure our practice has continued access to the latest technology and treatments, as well as an extensive network of trusted and qualified providers.”
