TAMPA — Metro Development Group has released additional details about Southshore Bay, the second master-planned community in the United States to feature a Crystal Lagoons amenity.
Much like Epperson, Metro’s original lagoon community in Wesley Chapel, the 1,000-acre, 2,800-home Southshore Bay in Wimauma, southeast of Tampa, will feature a multi-acre lagoon serving as the resort-like community’s centerpiece.
However, according to a press release, Southshore Bay will offer a separate gated, active adult section within the larger and otherwise family-friendly community. The lagoon itself will be completed in 2020, the release states.
“Aside from the lagoon, the dual focus on both active adult and family living truly sets Southshore Bay apart from other communities, giving it appeal to buyers at all stages of their lives,” Metro President Greg Singleton states in the release. “As the demand for multigenerational living options continues to grow, we have created a unique solution for all homebuyers: a neighborhood for all families and age groups, coupled with an incredible option for an older demographic at a price-point that is lower than the competition.”
Lennar is the sole builder in the active adult village. Other Southshore Bay builders include DR Horton and Holiday, the release states.
Metro plans to develop seven more Crystal Lagoons communities in west-central Florida, the release states. The next to be built are Brightwater in Fort Myers and Mirada in Pasco County.
