FORT MYERS — Long-term care insurance firm LTC Global named Nickie Cheney general counsel.

Cheney had most recently been a partner in the New York office of DLA Piper, a London-based global firm with more than $2.5 billion in annual revenues and some 4,000 attorneys.

LTC Global provides capital to insurance agents and agencies, through commission advance programs and renewal commission purchases, according to a statement. The firm is also a national distributor of life and health insurance products through its licensed agency subsidiaries, the release adds.

“Nickie has led significant acquisition and divestiture transactions over the years for clients in a diverse group of industries,” LTC Global CEO Daniel Schmedlen Jr. says in a release. “As general counsel, Nickie will oversee LTC Global's continued push to acquire insurance agencies in the life and health space."

Adds Schmedlen: “LTC Global is very fortunate to have Nickie manage our legal matters going forward, and her talent and experience will greatly benefit the company.
