Former federal prosecutor named partner at firm

TAMPA — At its annual general meeting on Jan. 26-27 in St. Petersburg, Tampa-based law firm Carlton Fields elected seven new shareholders drawn from the firm's various U.S. offices.

Among those elected was Joe Swanson, a former federal prosecutor and an attorney at the firm's Tampa office who co-chairs its privacy and cybersecurity practice. He's also a member of its securities and derivative litigation and white-collar crime and government investigations practice groups.

According to a press release, Swanson advises clients on a variety of issues related to privacy and cybersecurity. He investigates and responds to data breaches and similar cyber incidents.

Swanson, also represents companies and individuals in government and criminal investigations and conducts internal investigations. He defends companies, executives and directors in shareholder litigation and high-stakes commercial litigation, the release states.
