LAND O’LAKES — Del Webb, a brand affiliated with Atlanta-based homebuilder PulteGroup Inc., has begun construction of a 19,000-square-foot clubhouse at its 55-plus Bexley community in Land O’Lakes.

The Meridian at Bexley, according to a press release, will feature a resort-style pool, resistance pool, pickleball courts, café, dog park, fitness center and other active-adult facilities as part of a $14 million project for future residents.

“People will see the community coming to life when they visit models that will open early next year,” states Sean Strickler, president of Pulte’s West Florida division, in the release. “Del Webb offers more than just a home; it is a lifestyle and a place to belong."

The coastal style clubhouse, the release adds, will serve as a community hub for residents as they approach retirement. A full-time lifestyle director will manage social and recreational programs that promote mental and physical wellbeing.

According to the release, the 850-residence Del Webb Bexley is the first community for people 55 and over to be built from the ground up in the Tampa Bay area since 1960. Some 18 single-family home designs will be available, with price points starting at $234,990.
