PUNTA GORDA — Allegiant has added a new route at Punta Gorda Airport, launching nonstop service to and from Albany, N.Y. One-way fares on the new route for start at $62.

“We’re pleased Allegiant is offering Southwest Florida residents the convenience of year-round, low-cost airfares to Albany,” says Punta Gorda Airport CEO James Parish in a statement. “This is also a great opportunity to connect New Englanders from western Massachusetts to our year-round sunny weather and natural attractions.”

The year-round route will operate twice weekly between Punta Gorda Airport and Albany International Airport and with an anticipated annual passenger count of nearly 34,000. Allegiant now offers nonstop service to Punta Gorda from 42 cities.

“While Allegiant offers service from multiple cities in western and northern New York, this addition will fill a void on the eastern portion of the state while also providing a low-cost option to residents of nearby Vermont and Massachusetts,” says Sean Doherty, Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach Visitor and Convention Bureau interim director of tourism. “We look forward to sharing a little of our sunshine with our new northern partner.”
