Medical foundation names new board chairs

The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation has two new board co-chairs and a new board member.

SARASOTA — The Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation announced Dr. Michael Diaz and Jeffrey Phipps Sr. are the new board co-chairs and Dr. Maen Hussein is a new board member. 

Diaz practices in St. Petersburg and has served on the board since the foundation's inception in 2010. He joined Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in 2011. He currently serves on the FCS executive board and as director of patient advocacy for the practice. 

Phipps joined the board in June 2017. He is the senior member of the Phipps Group Wealth Management practice with Merrill Lynch in Delray Beach. 

Hussein practices at the FCS locations in The Villages and Tavares. He also currently serves on the FCS executive board. He has participated in several clinical trials and been the principal investigator on a recent lung cancer clinical trial conducted through FCS and Sarah Cannon, a leading U.S. community-based clinical trial organization. 

The past Chairman of the Board of FCS Foundation and current CEO of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Brad Prechtl says of Diaz, Phipps and Hussein, “Their dedication and leadership have been invaluable to the Foundation; they are truly outstanding volunteers and amazing assets to the FCS Foundation Board." 

The FCS Foundation is a nonprofit that provides financial support to qualified cancer patients in Florida for expenses such as rent or mortgage, car payments and utility bills.
