North Port residents will have more than fly balls to look out for in the months ahead.

The south Sarasota County city will become home to a new Atlanta Braves spring training complex in 2019, and a report from real estate website Realtor.com also identifies the area as a top market to watch for housing and home searches.

Three Florida metro areas made the 10-city list —Deltona-Daytona Beach at No. 4, Jacksonville at No. 6 and North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton at No. 8.

Realtor.com compiled the list based on metro areas with the highest ratio of inbound searches compared with outbound searches on the website. The report says this data set functions as an early alert system and is a good predictor of eventual sales activity. Demand in the top markets, the report adds, is driven by relative affordability, inventory and strong job markets.

The inventory factor comes into play in North Port, where 2.2% of inventory is available for sale, compared to Orlando, for example, where 0.9% is available.

Particular hot spots within the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton area are included in the report as well. Downtown Sarasota is drawing more young professionals, given the current revitalization efforts. The report also mentions Sarasota’s Gulf Gate neighborhood, an area where it says housing is affordable and there’s a high quality of life.

Top 10 Markets to Watch:

  1. Spokane, Wash.
  2. Portland, Maine
  3. Knoxville, Tenn.

  5. Boise, Idaho
  6. Jacksonville
  7. Charleston, S.C.
