SARASOTA — Sarasota County is creating a Unified Development Code that updates and combines land development and zoning regulations, which control the development of all properties in unincorporated Sarasota County.

According to a press release, combining the codes will make it easier to find regulatory information for properties as well as clarify the regulations.

Since March 2017, Sarasota County worked with consulting firm Calvin Giordano & Associates to create a Unified Development Code.

The consultant and county staff will hold a series of public workshops to share draft language of the new code. The workshops are on Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 7 at Nokomis Community Park.

The proposed code will be subject to the full public hearing process and will be presented to various groups, advisory committees and the Sarasota County Commission for consideration, a statement says.
