Airport traffic rises 5.6%

FORT MYERS — Passenger traffic at Southwest Florida International Airport increased 5.6% in October over October 2016, according to new data from the airport.

Passenger traffic is up 2.4% year-to-date, the report adds. In total, 581,317 passengers traveled through the Fort Myers airport in October.

The traffic leader in October was Delta Air Lines, with 113,546 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were American (111,231), Southwest (98,942), JetBlue (89,126) and Frontier (64,047).

Southwest Florida International Airport, under call letters RSW, had 5,363 aircraft operations in October, an increase of 4.4% compared to October 2016, while Page Field saw 6,817 operations, a 23.2% drop from October 2016. In addition, nearly 2.8 million pounds of airfreight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in October.
