If Ridg, Televoips, SourceToad and KnowBe4 are household names for you, then you probably were at the 14th Annual Tampa Bay Tech Awards gala held Nov. 10 at the Mahaffey Theater in downtown St. Petersburg. If not, then you might want to get to know the Tampa Bay region's fast-growing tech sector a little better.

The rock 'n' roll-themed event featured a raucous soundtrack while guests mingled and networked in the theater lobby prior to the award presentations. They posed for photos sporting crazy sunglasses and wielding colorful inflatable guitars.

The event's celebratory atmosphere was amped up even more once guests made their way into the performance hall, where the sound system blasted heavy riffs by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Queensryche as tech companies and leaders accepted awards in categories ranging from Emerging Technology Company of the Year (Harness) to Workplace Culture Program of the Year (Fintech) and Technology Executive of the Year (Ray Carr, CTO of Occam Technology Group).

The awards ceremony was emceed by Jill St. Thomas, director of partnerships and engagement at the Tampa Bay Technology Forum. The group also used the occasion to announce that after 17 years, TBTF has rebranded, and changed its name to Tampa Bay Tech. Jason Warnke, an Accenture executive who serves as Tampa Bay Tech's marketing chairman, states in a press release that the change “defines that we represent both sides of the bay, that we are a connected and interactive network, and most importantly, that we empower the tech community.”
