TAMPA — Michael Brown, formerly of Gilbane Building Co., has been hired by Skanska USA as its executive vice president/general manager and will oversee building operations across Florida.

New York-based Skanska USA is one of the world's leading leading construction and development firms. It has offices in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa, where Brown will be based, and more than 700 employees statewide.

In his role as general manager, Brown will lead strategic growth for Skanska's building operations in the region, in addition to overseeing customer support, operational efficiency and sustainability.

“We are confident Michael's leadership, energy and shared values will invigorate our Florida teams to ensure their success in the region,” states S. Scott MacLeod, chief operating officer of Skanska USA's building operations in the Southeast, in the release. “Michael will add tremendous value to our customers, our community and our employees.”

Brown worked for 19 years at Gilbane, serving most recently as senior vice president and southeast regional manager, based in Atlanta. His resume also includes stints with Turner Construction and Barton Malow.
