Foundation lures nonprofit executive

SARASOTA — The Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, a private foundation serving Sarasota, hired John Annis as senior vice president of collaboration and impact.

Annis will start in the new role Jan. 1. He has served as senior vice president for community investment at Community Foundation of Sarasota County since 2012. Prior to that role, he was vice president of public policy at Collins Center for Public Policy. From 2002 to 2010, he was director of customer services for the Herald-Tribune Media Group. He also served more than 24 years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps.

“We will increase our impact on the Sarasota community as we expand our work in 2018 and John will play an important role in helping us fulfill that mission,” says President and CEO Teri Hansen in a statement. “His experience with our nonprofit community and passion for strategic philanthropic makes him a perfect fit with our team.”

According to a press release, the Barancik Foundation has awarded $27 million in grants since its inception in 2014.
