Health care entrepreneur recognized for practice

BONITA SPRINGS — Founder of Florida Skin Center Dr. Anais Badia was named 2017 Distinguished Entrepreneur of Southwest Florida by the Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Dr. Badia is a pediatrician and dermatologist. She founded Florida Skin Center in 2001. According to a press release, Dr. Badia started her business through an ad in the Yellow Pages nine months before she arrived in Southwest Florida. On the first day of her practice, she had 13 appointments.

“It is wonderful to build something from nothing,” says Dr. Badia in a statement. “It proves that you can do whatever you would like, as long as you are willing to put the effort in.”

Florida Skin Center provides narrowband UVB phototherapy for eczema treatment and psoriasis in children and Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery and dermatopathology services.

Florida Skin Center has three locations in Fort Myers, Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres.
