SARASOTA — One of the largest call center companies in the country, Alorica, plans to hire 200 people for its Sarasota location.

The hires are in addition to the 330 employees Alorica already has in Sarasota, according to a statement. The company plans to talk about the jobs at a meet-and-greet event scheduled for Thursday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. at its office on 2805 Fruitville Road. The meet-and-greet event includes on-the-spot interviews and possible job offers for potential customer service agents, customer service team managers, quality assurance agents and workforce analysts, the statement adds.

Sarasota Vice Mayor Liz Alpert and At-Large Commissioner Jen Ahearn-Koch are scheduled to speak at a press conference before the event to discuss the impact Alorica has made on the local community.

Alorica is based in Irvine, Calif., with offices in North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe, in addition to a work-at-home unit. The company, in the statement, says training and development of employees is a key initiative, and 90% of its supervisors, managers and senior leaders began as call center reps.
