SARASOTA — Nonprofit specialized telephone equipment distributor Florida Telecommunications Relay has opened a new distribution center in Sarasota.

The organization provides equipment for Florida residents with hearing loss.

Florida Telecommunications Relay estimates that more than 3 million Floridians experience some degree of hearing loss, according to a press release. The center will provide amplified telephones and other telecommunications equipment as well as hearing tests.

“At FTRI, we strive to improve the daily lives of Floridians who are struggling with hearing loss, and we are excited to extend those services to residents in Sarasota who need help communicating with their loved ones,” says Florida Telecommunications Relay Executive Director James Forestall in a statement.

The distribution center is located within the Suncoast Center for Independent Living.
