SARASOTA — The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee will add risk management and insurance to its undergraduate degree programs in the College of Business this August.

The development of the program came out of meetings with local insurance company executives and the introduction of a risk management and insurance minor last fall, according to a press release.

“It's a big industry and an important industry that will provide significant opportunities in coming years, and I expect that this new program will be well-received by students looking for rewarding and challenging careers after graduation,” says College of Business Dean James Curran in a statement.

The College of Business now offers two insurance classes plus an internship program and an elective that make up the college's insurance minor. The college will add three courses and appoint two more faculty members as a result of the addition of the degree program.
