FORT MYERS - 21st Century Oncology Holdings Inc., one of the largest global provider of integrated cancer care services, has named a new interim chief executive officer to take office immediately.

The Fort Myers-based company made leadership changes in an effort to solve short- and long-term liquidity challenges. It also hired Alvarez and Marsal Healthcare Industry Group, a consulting firm, “to work with company leadership to develop a path forward.”

Paul Rundell will handle day-to-day leadership of the company, according to a press release. Rundell is a managing director with Alvarez and Marsal.

“21C's mission is and always has been to provide the highest level of patient care,” Rundell says in a statement. “I look forward to working with our doctors and other stakeholders to fulfill that mission.”

Former 21st Century Oncology executive William Spalding will return to the board of directors. Doug Staut, also with Alvarez and Marsal, will serve as interim CFO. He replaces LeAnne Stewart, who stepped down as CFO.
