FORT MYERS — Retailer-owned hardware cooperative Ace Hardware Corp. will open a new customer care center in Fort Myers.

The 10,000-square-foot office facility is at 4700 Terminal Drive within Page Field. Page Field, which is operated by Lee County Port Authority, is a business and general aviation airport.

According to a press release, the opening of the center is part of a three-year plan to grow and transform Ace Hardware's customer care division. When fully staffed, the center will employ about 110 Ace corporate team members.

The customer care center manages communications and provides information to Ace Hardware retail store and online customers.

McGarvey Construction Company of Florida Inc. from Estero is the general contractor for the facility build out. Construction will be complete by the end of August. Employee recruitment is underway now.

Ace Hardware leadership selected Fort Myers after a site search of more than 900 metro areas, according to a press release.

“The Fort Myers area was extremely attractive to us for a number of reasons,” says Ace Hardware Corp. Vice President of Human Resources, Organizational Development and Communications Kane Calamari in a statement. “The region offers access to high quality talent and a competitive lease rate for our new facility, coupled with excellent support from the region, including the Lee County Port Authority, Lee County Economic Development Office and CareerSource Southwest Florida.”

Ace Hardware has more than 5,000 hardware stores locally owned and operated in all 50 U.S. states, D.C. and about 55 countries. It is based in Oak Brook, Ill.
