Jacksonville-based GreenPointe Communities has hired a development manager ahead of plans to start construction on a 15-acre, waterfront project in downtown Sarasota.

Brett Blank comes to the mixed-use Quay Sarasota project following a career developing multifamily projects in Colorado and a master-planned community called Arden in Palm Beach County with Freehold Capital Management LLC, of Boston.

“We are fortunate to have a professional with Brett's credentials leading our team at Quay Sarasota,” Rick Harcrow, GreenPointe's regional president for the Tampa/Sarasota areas, says in a statement. “We look forward to the valuable contributions Brett will make in achieving our strategic goals.”

In addition to the Quay Sarasota development, a roughly $1 billion project that is being designed to include as many as 700 new residences, 175 hotel rooms and roughly 240,000 square feet of retail and office space, Blank also is coordinating plans for a Florida Department of Transportation roundabout at U.S. 41 and Fruitville Road, the entrance to the project.

Blank says the Quay Sarasota project will be a “new urban district offering elegance, energy and imagination along the waterfront” as it is developed in phases through 2028.
