Retirement community launches renovation project

FORT MYERS — R.D. Johnson Construction Inc. has started interior renovations on the communal areas of the 27,125-square-foot Woodlands Commons building at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers.

The company will renovate the fitness center, kitchen, cafe, dining rooms and restrooms. The project is scheduled to be complete in December. Artefact Studios Inc. is the architect. Wegman Design Group is the project designer.

“This project will dramatically enhance the resort-style setting we provide to our residents here at Shell Point and will be complete just in time for the celebration of our upcoming 50th anniversary next year,” says Shell Point Senior Director of Operations Adam Hinds in a statement.

Shell Point Retirement Community is a retirement resort along the Caloosahatchee River. It has six neighborhoods, a golf course and six restaurants.

R.D. Johnson Construction is a construction management and general contracting firm based in Fort Myers. It specializes in the construction and renovation of commercial and healthcare facilities, according to a press release.
