Retailer woos national beauty executive

FORT MYERS — Women's retailer Chico's FAS Inc. named skincare and beauty industry executive Mary van Praag president of its Soma division.

She replaces Laurie Van Brunt., who retired in March. The announcement of van Pragg's hiring was part of the company's second quarter earnings statement, released Aug. 30. The new top Soma's executive was most recently CEO of San Francisco-based anti-aging skincare firm Perricone MD, the company says in the statement. Prior to that van Praag held senior executive roles at Coty Inc. and Johnson & Johnson's beauty division. She begins her role at Chico's Sept. 5, the statement adds.

“We look forward to leveraging Mary's global, multi-channel and brand-building expertise, along with her deep understanding of our target customer, to capitalize on Soma's growth potential," Chico's CEO Shelley Broader says in the statement.

The Soma intimates brand operates more than 270 boutiques and i19 outlets. It was founded in 2004.
