These days, there's great demand for the unique, the special, the personalized.
Sarasota-based Bogati Urn Co. launched a new collection of urns with that demand in mind, dubbing the line Bogati Exclusive. The new products target specific requests, from urns with images of golfing to urns featuring images of Jesus Christ.
“Spiritual urns have done really well with our Spanish-speaking clients,” says Bogati Urn Co. owner Andrea Bogard LeBlanc.
LeBlanc tells Coffee Talk the company has seen increased sales in Puerto Rico and Mexico with the new designs. Some items have sold out, and the company has had to put in rush orders with the manufacturer. Bogati sells wholesale, directly to funeral homes and online retailers who sell to families.
Sports-related urns such as golfing and fishing urns are in production now, along with other themed urns, which will be available in two to three months. “We're trying to stand out and make some things that are different and unique that are not available readily online to a family,” says LeBlanc.
To determine the new products the company will produce, Bogati gets input from consumers and funeral homes. “People call up and say, 'Do you have anything with horses on it?'” says Bogati Urn Co. Online Marketing Manager Scott Speicher as an example.
There are survey results Bogati can mine for information as well. Funeral home employees fill out forms and indicate items they would like that aren't available. Speicher says the company can guess what might be popular, but finding out what the end purchaser is buying is best.
Bogati is also moving into the realm of more specialized pet products. Pet urns have been big for Bogati, now representing 50% of business. Cat items have done particularly well, Speicher says. The company is planning a line of breed-specific pet urns to meet the need.
Speicher says the company hopes to expand sales geographically, too. Bogati aims to target Australia and Canada first and then bring its new products to additional countries overseas.
