SARASOTA — Ringling College of Art and Design and Semkhor Productions recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new mixed commercial/academic soundstage and production support facility.

Directors and producers of commercial media productions will use Studio A of Ringling Studios and include Ringling students in the production process. The studio is the first building completed in the Ringling Studios Soundstage and Post Production Complex. The facility is an academic, private and public partnership between Ringling College, Semkhor Productions and Sarasota County.

Studio B is scheduled for summer completion. Both Studio A and Studio B have acoustically isolated 8,400-square-foot soundstages with production, meeting, editing and makeup rooms. A separate post-production building will be completed in the fall.

“Ringling Studios accelerates our ability to bring productions to the Sarasota-Bradenton area by providing the physical and technological infrastructure needed for larger and more complex film, television and multimedia projects,” says Ringling College President Larry Thompson in a statement.

Ringling Studios is a roughly $15 million project, according to a press release.
