Charlotte County tourism officials, in a new effort to position the county as a top Florida outdoor destination, introduced a new logo, marketing message and tagline — Our Best Side, is Outside.

The new messaging includes the destination name “Punta Gorda\Englewood Beach,” according to a statement, with the additional geographic indicator of “the Charlotte Harbor Gulf Island Coast. Officials with the Charlotte Harbor Visitor and Convention Bureau unveiled the new tourism and brand programs at an event Monday. The Charlotte County Tourist Development Council approved the program.

“In order to compete in one of the hottest tourism markets in the world, it is important to have a unique and clear tourism brand to help Charlotte County stand out from the competition in the eyes of potential visitors,” Charlotte Harbor Visitor and Convention Bureau tourism director Lorah Steiner says in the release. “Most important though is making sure that our brand is a direct reflection of our county at its heart and one that resonates with our target visitor.”

The county's tourism marketing firm, St. Petersburg-based Aqua Marketing & Communications, led a market study to help determine the brand strategy.
