Port Tampa Bay named 40-year marine industry veteran Sal Kass vice president of operations.

Kass will oversee the facilitation of cargo and cruise operations throughout the port area, in addition to port access, whether by water, land or rail, according to a statement. He will also ensure public terminal operator facilities run efficiently and professionally, and in accordance with all regulations, the release adds.

Kass, who will begin his new position Jan. 1, 2017, has 40 years experience in the operations and marine operation fields. Most recently he was a general manager for Ports America's Tampa operation, where he was responsible for budget planning and profit and loss for both vessels and terminal operations, among other responsibilities.

“We are very excited to have Sal Kass join the great team here at Port Tampa Bay,” Port President and CEO Paul Anderson says in the statement. “His experience and relationships throughout the maritime industry will help build upon the great things we have already been able to accomplish, and we look forward to having Sal help us take Port Tampa Bay to the next level.”
