TAMPA — GTE Financial, a Tampa credit union with $1.8 billion in assets, named Brian Best president and CEO.

Best, who has been with GTE since 2010, has served as the company's executive vice president and senior vice president, and the chief experience officer, a statement says. He was named acting president and CEO in January, when former CEO Joe Brancucci took a leave of absence. Brancucci officially resigned in March.

In his 20-plus years in the financial industry, Best has led organizations with a focus on the company's finances, operations, lending and marketing, the statement says. Prior to joining GTE, he worked for Grow Financial Federal Credit Union, a Tampa-based institution with $2.2 billion in assets.

GTE Financial was chartered in Tampa in 1935. The credit union has more than 244,000 members.
