Lee home prices rise 12%

FORT MYERS — The median price of an existing single-family home in Lee County rose 12% to $216,810 in February compared with the same month one year ago.

The median price rose in February despite the fact that there was a 5.4% increase in the number of homes listed for sale compared with the same month a year ago and a 12.5% drop in the number of sales, according to the Realtor Association of Greater Fort Myers and the Beach.

The association reported similar trends for existing condos in Lee County in February compared with February 2015. The median price of an existing condo rose 13% to $192,000 in February. Listings of existing condos for sale rose 12.8% while the number of sales dropped 26.1% compared with the same month one year ago.

Pending sales, a gauge of future activity, revealed slowing real estate transactions. Pending sales of existing single-family homes in February fell 12% and pending sales of existing condos fell 22%.
