TAMPA — A U.S. District judge sentenced Frazier Williams Jr., of Tampa, to three years in federal prison for his role in a fraudulent tax return scheme.

According to the trial, Williams, an officer of Aztech Energy Corp., helped prepare a federal corporate income tax return for Aztech that fraudulently inflated the amount of fuel tax credits the company was entitled to by more than $2 million, a statement says. Williams was ordered to pay $2.974 million in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service.

Williams was found guilty Jan. 16, the statement says. His case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation.
