TAMPA — Blair Todt, senior vice president, chief legal and administrative officer and secretary at WellCare Health Plans, is resigning from the firm, effective June 17.

Todt has worked for Tampa-based WellCare since 2010, when he joined as chief compliance officer, a statement says. He will become chief legal officer at Health Care Service Corp., a Chicago-based health insurance company.

WellCare's search for a general counsel will begin immediately, the statement says. In the layover period, Phillip Bisesi, vice president and assistant general counsel, will serve as interim general counsel. Bisesi has more than 23 years of experience in health plan operations, including Medicaid and Medicare managed care programs and mergers and acquisitions.

Earlier this year, WellCare Health Plans Inc. increased its Medicaid membership by 30,000 with its acquisition of Advicare Corp.'s Medicaid business. The company serves approximately 3.7 million members nationwide.
