Airport posts January traffic record

ST. PETERSBURG — After setting an annual passenger record in 2015, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport started 2016 on a new record-setting pace.

The airport served 124,732 passengers in January, a record for the month and nearly a 14% increase over January 2015, when it served nearly 110,000 passengers, a statement says. For the year of 2015, more than 1.6 million passengers traveled St. Pete-Clearwater airport.

St. Pete-Clearwater International has 53 nonstop destinations. The airline share is dominated by Allegiant, which flies to 50 of those 53 destinations. The other three are split between Sun Country Airlines and Sunwing Airlines, which have one and two stops, respectively.
