Just months after agreeing to move ahead with the development of the stalled Pineapple Square in downtown Sarasota, the Kolter Group has designated a new name and start date for the mixed-use project.

Kolter plans to begin work on “The Mark,” as it will be called, by the end of March, says Bobby Julien, Kolter's CEO.

The project, which will be built at Lemon Avenue and State Street, is slated to contain 157 condominium units, 35,000 square feet of retail space and 15,000 square feet of offices.

“The more we work on it, the more excited we are with it,” Julien says.

Kolter also is constructing The Vue at Sarasota Bay, which consists of a 255-room Westin Hotel and 144 luxury condos in downtown Sarasota, and has begun work on One, a planned 41-story residential, retail and hotel tower in St. Petersburg that will be the city's tallest structure.
