FORT MYERS — Lee Health, one of the largest nonprofit community health organizations in Southwest Florida, plans to add a new urgent care center and multi-specialty practice to its sprawling network.

The new facility will be built on a site on Metro Parkway, just north of Daniels Road near Gulf Coast Medical Center, a 349-bed hospital operated by Lee Health, according to a statement. The Lee Health board approved a lease with Metro-Daniels (North Parcel) Investors LLC for 40,000 square feet, the release adds.

The new construction project, which will house a Lee Convenient Care and Lee Physician Group office, in addition to cardiology testing services, is expected to be ready by fall 2017. “This new location will help to align multi-specialty services of Lee Physician Group and centralize support services for efficiency,” Lee Health Outpatient Services Chief Administrative Officer Dave Cato says in the statement.

The new Convenient Care location is the fourth in the Lee Health network. “Convenient Care is helpful for individuals who don't have a primary care physician, and it's a great alternative to using the emergency department for non-life-threatening medical issues - especially during season,” says Kris Fay, chief administrative officer of Lee Physician Group, in the statement.
