FORT MYERS — Web search firm Yippy called off its acquisition of Michael Cizmar & Associates, a charter Google for Work partner and winner of Google's 2014 Innovation Partner of the Year Award.

Fort Myers-based Yippy announced its planned acquisition of Cizmar & Associates in June and the deal was scheduled to close earlier in the fourth quarter. Yippy officials said they thought the acquisition would help it draw customers who had been using Google Search Appliance, a service that helps companies index large amounts of data; Google has discontinued that service.

But during the merger due diligence process, each side determined that various factors, including differences in sales methodologies, were not compatible, according to a statement. "We appreciated the learning experience and the knowledge we amassed during the due diligence process,” Yippy CEO Richard Granville says in the release “Our team wishes MC+A great success in the future as they have a lot of experience in search.”
