SARASOTA — Dr. Patrick Moreo, the newly appointed dean of the College of Hospitality & Tourism Leadership at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, has won an industry specific lifetime achievement award.

Moreo was given the Howard B. Meek Award for lifetime achievement award at a recent meeting of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education, a statement says. It's the highest level of individual recognition offered by the organization, which is comprised of academics across the hospitality field.

“I am very proud, obviously, and very humbled,” Moreo says. “This is something that comes from your peers. You don't apply for it. You're nominated for it by someone else.”

Moreo has more than 30 years of experience in education, the statement says. Prior to joining USFSM on July 1, he was a professor and associate dean at the University of Nevada Las Vegas' William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.
