Fort Myers residential market hits rough spot

FORT MYERS — Sales of existing single-family homes and condos in Lee County fell in March compared with the same month one year ago, indicating a slowdown in the residential real estate market at the height of the traditionally busy winter season.

Realtors helped sell 1,115 existing single-family homes in Lee County in March, a 13.2% drop from March 2015. They also helped sell 601 existing condos, an 18.6% drop in the same period, according to the Florida Gulf Coast MLS.

Sales priced were mixed in Lee County. The median sale price of an existing single-family home in March was $225,000, a 4.2% increase over March 2015. The median sale price of an existing condo fell 4.2% to $172,500 in the same period.

The number of existing single-family homes listed for sale in March rose 8.4% to 5,811 and the number of existing condos for sale rose 29.2% to 3,154.
