NAPLES — Hannes van Rensburg, a pioneer in mobile banking, has joined ACI Worldwide as senior vice president of business development.

Van Rensburg founded Fundamo, which launched the first mobile banking system in 1999 and processed billions of transactions annually in 34 countries for millions of account holders. Visa acquired Fundamo in 2011 and van Rensburg became senior vice president with Visa. Prior to Fundamo, van Rensburg served as chief information officer of the Sanlam Group, a South African financial services company. He also previously served as a founding partner of Infomet, which was acquired by IBM in 1990.

Naples-based ACI Worldwide manages electronic payments for more than 5,000 organizations globally. More than 1,000 of the largest financial institutions as well as 300 global retailers use ACI services to execute $14 trillion a day in payments.

“In the rapidly changing payments industry, there are countless opportunities to innovate and bring new products to market, and we're excited to have Hannes lead this key business development area,” says Craig Saks, group president of ACI Worldwide, in a statement. “Hannes is a banking and payments visionary as well as a true technologist.”
