NAPLES — D. Garrett Construction has started a $7.6-million renovation of the clubhouse at The Country Club of Naples.

“This extensive facelift has been needed for many years and will make The Country Club of Naples more contemporary for current and prospective new members and make our facility more attractive for private meeting groups and charitable functions,” says Tim Lynch, club general manager, in a statement.

Located off Goodlette-Frank Road south of Pine Ridge Road, The Country Club of Naples was built in 1962 as the Big Cypress Golf and Country Club. In 1966, members acquired the club from the developer for $700,000 and renamed it The Country Club of Naples, which was at the time was the first private, full-service country club in Naples.

This is the first full renovation of the 26,600-square-foot clubhouse in 25 years. Improvements include expanded casual dining, new locker rooms, a multi-purpose room for meetings and activities, new air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems, and new interior decorating. The construction firm will add a veranda for outdoor dining overlooking the golf course. The project is scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving.

In 2009, the golf course underwent a complete restoration by Naples golf architect Gordon Lewis. The original elements of the course were retained but updated with modern construction and turf grasses.
